CODE @ TACC: Wearables Camp

Summer High School STEM Program

2017 Program Information: June 19 - 23, 2017

CODE @ TACC Wearables is a innovative and exciting summer program that incorporates a project-based learning approach to expose students to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) innovation. Students will foster their talent and creativity by being introduced to the principles of high performance computing, life sciences, electronics and Internet of Things.

All current 10th through 12th grade high school students are welcome to register.

The first thirty-five paid registrants for CODE @ TACC - Wearables will be accepted. CODE @ TACC Wearables program operates 9am - 4pm each day at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC).

  • Use project based-learning approach to foster creativity and problem solving skills
  • Participate in team-building exercises that will prepare students for the workplace of the future
  • Use hands-on technology to learn the basics of networking, physical interfacing and electronics
  • Explore and solve life science and bioinformatics problems
  • Design, create and program a wearable device
  • Participate in a field trip to a local tech company
  • Get a private tour and work at the TACC Visualization Laboratory (Vislab) and data center
  • Interact with TACC's cutting-edge technology systems
  • Collaborate with peers, college students, scientists, researchers and engineers

Non-refundable registration cost $550.00. Cost includes lunch, materials and field trip travel to and from local tech company. Travel to and from TACC each day is not included in cost. Although participants are responsible to provide their own laptops for the program, TACC will have laptops during the program for loan. For need based scholarships please email
