Diversity at the center of advanced computing

There has never been a more exciting time to be in advanced computing. With technologies maturing at a tremendous rate, tools and techniques are becoming ubiquitous in society. Given the increasing need to enable breakthrough discoveries across disciplines, it is critically important to include the best solutions in technologies we build. To be truly pervasive as technology architects, providers, and designers, we must consider the needs of all stakeholders; including and giving a voice to an increasingly diverse group of people who will build and expand upon our ideas in ways we cannot imagine. While we have acknowledged the importance of diversity over the past decades, high performance computing does not fully reflect our country's diversity.

As an educationally-based supercomputing center, it is our responsibility to be proactive in creating a diverse and computationally competent workforce. We encourage our users, partners, students, and staff to share thoughts, ideas, and suggestions with us to begin creating this new reality: change@tacc.utexas.edu.
