Advanced Computing Interfaces
Rion Dooley, Research Associate, is Manager of the Web and Cloud Services group, a group of technological blacksmiths tasked with evaluating bleeding edge technology to build solutions that bring HPC and Big Data Analytics to the web. He is also Principal Investigator on the Agave Project a Science-as-a-Service API platform allowing researchers worldwide to manage data, run code, collaborate freely, and integrate their science anywhere.
Rion received an A.A. degree from Southeastern Iowa Community College, B.A. (Math) and B.A. (computer science) degrees from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, and a Ph.D. in computer science from Louisiana State University. His research pulls together areas of distributed computing, data informatics, security, and information modeling to craft innovative and engaging experiences for researchers of all domains. His work has aided researchers across 5 continents and continues to be used by some of the largest academic research communities worldwide.
Rion's actively puts his wife and two daughters at the top of his list of accomplishments. He hopes his work can someday edge out dancing teddy bears and waterproof mascara on their lists of favorite inventions.
