Hikari is first supercomputer in U.S. to use solar and HVDC for power.

Hikari HVDC system predicted to save 15 percent of energy compared to conventional systems.

Collaboration partnered New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), NTT Facilities, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Hikari supercomputer HVDC demonstration launched August 2016.

Successful proof of concept will support greater adoption of HVDC by data center industry.
