Story Highlights

Researchers from The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) developed a new way to extract more power from the wind. The approach has the potential to increase wind power generation by 6-7% with a consequent increase in revenue.

TACC supercomputers allowed the team to accurately model the wind field on a wind farm and the power production of each single turbine.

The effort was supported by the University of Texas Research Cyberinfrastructure (UTRC) initiative, which provides access to TACC's resources, expertise and training to researchers at any of the University of Texas System's 14 institutions.
