Story Highlights

Researchers have developed a computer program called ADCIRC that simulates and predicts the storm surge an incoming tropic storm will produce.

During tropical storms, TACC provides emergency access to supercomputers to derive answers in a highly compressed timespan.

On Frontera researchers can run three scenarios in the time it previously took to run one, and are using larger, more resolved meshes, providing better guidance to emergency managers and decision-makers.
