This course is designed to teach any potential visualization lab user to develop truly immersive applications. All attendees will take away the information necessary to fully exploit the immersive capabilities of the precise 6DOF tracking system. We will introduce the new optical tracking system, and familiarize attendees with methods for developing new applications that take advantage of the immersive three dimensional display environments in the ACES Visualization Laboratory.
Additionally, we will be teaching users to develop new applications using VRCO's vGeo software http://www.vrco.com/products/vgeo/vgeo.html. The Virtual Global Explorer and Observatory (vGeo) software is an interactive data fusion and visual analysis tool designed to meet the complex challenges faced by today's scientists, engineers and simulation analysts. A vGeo user can navigate and interact with a time varying, three- dimensional world constructed from many large, multivariate data sets including observations, computer simulations, images, and model objects. By taking advantage of the ability to recognize data patterns by seeing them - as animated 3D objects in an immersive environment - users often discover features and relationships that might go otherwise unnoticed.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of programming in C or C++ is required.
