UT Grid provides a resource, called 'Rodeo', which is composed of a large collection of dedicated and desktop compute nodes for high throughput serial computation. Users can submit and manage jobs to Rodeo through the hosted Grid User Node (GUN) which may also be installed on a user’s desktop to allow direct access to the resource. Rodeo itself is managed by the Condor workload management system. The course will provide lectures and hands-on training sessions to familiarize the user with the UT Grid resource Rodeo and the concept of the GUN.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Rodeo: What resources are available? How do you apply for an allocation on Rodeo?
- Condor: What tools are available in Condor for submitting, managing and monitoring jobs running through Rodeo?
- Grid User Node: What features and tools are provided in the GUN?
