Introduction to High Performance Computing for Life Scientists This one-day workshop is intended to introduce life scientists to high performance computing at TACC. Attendees will learn how to utilize the vast array of resources that TACC offers for Computational Biology.

Topics to be covered include:

  • HPC, visualization and storage systems
  • Login and remote access
  • Job submission and management
  • File transfer and data management
  • Available computational biology software
  • Compiling applications from source

The class is intended for high performance computing "novices" and advanced computing skills are NOT required. A working knowledge of Unix is helpful but not necessary.

Class attendees traveling to the training are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel, daily expenses, and hotel accommodations. ACES Building, Room 2.402 (ACES Building is at 24th and Speedway on the main campus of The University of Texas at Austin)
