MRI scan of Canine Prostate David Fuentes, UT-MD Anderson A 3D rendering of the treatment in a canine prostate. The anatomical MRI data has been volume rendered to illustrate the geometry of the anatomy. The contrast of the T1 data has been enhanced to distinguish the muscular tissue (dark) from the rest of the anatomy. As shown the canine is laying supine, legs upward. A stainless steel stylet was used to insert the laser catheter consisting of a 700 micrometer core diameter diffusing-tip silica fiber within a 2mm diameter water-cooled catheter. The catheter is outlined as light blue. The orientation of the laser catheter insertion is shown as a light blue cylinder. A 2D axial image is inserted as a reference. A distance scale is provided for reference in units of milli-meter. The full field of view shown is 240mm x 240mm. A volume rendering of the thermal images is overlaid onto the anatomy as an illustration of the heating seen due to the power supplied at the laser tip. The temperature is provided in degC. |
