Margaret is a research associate in TACC’s Advanced Systems group specializing in network and security projects. She is TACC’s representative to TAGPMA (The Americas Grid Policy Management Authority) and is responsible for designing and implementing TACC Certificate Authority (CA) services to provide X.509 Public Key Infrastructure for multiple TACC grid users, resources and services. In addition, Margaret is a collaborator on security and network projects for TeraGrid and TIGRE (Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education). Margaret has been employed with TACC since September 2004.
Prior to TACC, Margaret served as technical manager and then director of the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California, San Diego (UCS). She also worked in the UCSD School of Medicine's Virtual Reality Lab, where she designed and implemented a flexible, multi-media virtual reality (MMVR) system, a 3D environment for simultaneously exploring 3D models, 2D images, text, sounds and animations.
Margaret has several years of computer-related experience in system configuration and software development, including extensive work managing and coordinating heterogeneous systems in a variety of local and wide-area networks. She has designed and implemented several relational database applications, and has designed and taught both networking and field service troubleshooting courses.
