TACC Organization and Leadership
The Texas Advanced Computing Center is organized into six groups, each with distinct areas of responsibility:
Group Lead: Bill Barth
Director of High Performance Computing
Work with researchers to analyze data, manage data collections, and produce scientific visualizations that aid in the knowledge discovery process. Develops new software, tools and solutions for visualizing, analyzing, and managing digital collections. Operates resources ranging from remote visualization systems to the ACES Visualization Laboratory (VisLab) on The University of Texas at Austin main campus.
Group Lead: Kelly Gaither
Director of Data & Information Analysis
Deploys and manages all of TACC's world-class systems, and installs and updates operating systems and system-level software on all HPC, scientific visualization, storage systems, and network hardware. Conduct research and testing to configure systems for maximum effectiveness, while continually evaluating new technologies.
Group Lead: Tommy Minyard
Director of Advanced Computing Systems
Manages the financial, administrative and operational responsibilities of the center. Oversees the center's information technology infrastructure and administrative tasks from the coordination and management of large-scale conferences and workshops to daily operations. This group is also responsible for the administration of contracts and grants and spearheads the center's development operations.
Group Lead: Janet McCord
Assistant Director
Cultivates relationships with individuals, industry, foundations, government agencies, and the media. Drives the center's externally oriented activities, including industrial and international partners, media relations, and special events. Broadens the awareness of HPC issues at the K-12 level and within the public through the development and implementation of education and outreach programs.
Group Lead: Aaron Dubrow
Manager, External Relations
Responsible for the coordination of multiple cross-center activities. In collaboration with the HPC and DIA groups, provides the user community with consulting support, account management, training, and documentation necessary to use of all TACC resources. Enables researchers to easily access TACC resources and services and effectively manage their projects. Maintain a site presence and monitor all resources during off business hours, weekends, and holidays.
